Sustainable Education on Natural Heritage and Visitor Management
A project in collaboration with the Ralsko-Ploučnice Geopark, Czech Republic
Project Description and Objectives
The project supports the Ralsko National Geopark in the Czech Republic in its efforts to sustainably promote its natural and geological heritage and to manage visitor flows.
In collaboration with the Swiss Geoparks, new approaches to landscape interpretation are being developed, visitor programs are being established, and local stakeholders, schools, and communities are being actively involved. A key focus is on training geoguides and developing innovative educational and experiential programs.
As part of the project, the Swiss Geoparks are organizing a study tour lasting several days to various Swiss Geoparks and the UNESCO World Heritage Site TektonikArena Sardona. Participants will gain insights into visitor management, environmental education, geotourism, protected area management, and collaboration with local institutions. In addition, Swiss experts will visit the Ralsko Geopark for workshops and professional exchange.
This mutual exchange of knowledge fosters long-term partnerships and field-tested solutions that promote the sustainable development of the Ralsko Geopark while also strengthening the international exchange of expertise between Swiss and Czech geoparks.
